The Future Is Happening NOW!

Dahr Jamail has a painfully brutal summary of the current disruptive advances of climate change at Truthout. He discusses the implications of a broad range of recent scientific observations and the ramifications of those observations. It is an excellent article and a very depressing view of the state of the planet and humanity. Dahr repurposes a saying he routinely heard while reporting from Iraq to apply to the accelerating negative impacts of climate change.

While I was working in Iraq during the initial years of the US occupation there, Iraqis had a saying: "Today is better than tomorrow," in reference to how quickly things were deteriorating.

The environmental deterioration is real as this long, well reference and comprehensive, summary from a broad range of global observations starkly catalogs. It is well worth your time. First it will depress you, then you will get angry and then, hopefully you will ask, “what can I do?”

Each month as I write these dispatches, I shake my head in disbelief at the rapidity at which anthropogenic climate disruption (ACD) is occurring. It's as though each month I think, "It can't possibly keep happening at this incredible pace."

But it does.

Don’t get mad….Get Busy.
